Learn everything about Karwa Chauth pooja

Many festivals and fasts are celebrated and observed throughout Hinduism, and Karva Chauth is particularly significant. This fast is kept by married women to ensure the life of their husbands, and it is for this reason that it is a symbol of women's dignity and Suhaag. It is thought that if a married lady or girl observes this fast, her husband would be rewarded with long life, and their family life will be full of bliss. This fast begins before daybreak and continues until the Moon rises.

What Should You Avoid Doing Today?

  • Several items are deemed banned during the fast festivals mentioned in Hinduism. On this rationale, several things should be avoided on Karva Chauth. Otherwise, the fast is deemed unlucky. Understand what should be avoided.

  • On this day, the colors blue, pale brown, and black are seen as unlucky. Wearing red or brightly colored clothing on this day is recommended if feasible. It is important to remember that wearing blue, light brown, or black clothing on this day is considered unlucky. These colors detract from elegance.

  • Don't do these things by accident. Needles, threads, scissors, and safety pins should not be used. Do not wake someone asleep. Do not backbite or disparage someone. In today's contemporary environment, some women spend their time gambling. It is claimed in this context that doing such a thing during a fast is deemed unlucky. These items must be avoided in such a situation. On Karva Chauth, Here Are Some Activities

  • Sargi should be given to your daughter-in-law today. Although Sargi is practiced in some places of India, it is believed to be highly fortunate. Sargi is a practice in which the mother-in-law offers her daughter-in-law sweets, new clothes, make-up, and other goods before the fast begins. After ingesting all of the foods served in Sargi practice, the daughter-in-law observes fast.

  • Before or after worship, do Bhajan-Kirtan. On this day, it is considered auspicious. It not only brightens the environment, but it also brings complete and fortunate outcomes. The Story Behind the Festival's Celebration

  • Women all around the country pray to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati for their husbands. However, the major reason for commemorating this event is veiled in Hindu Mythological Tales.

Hindu Mythological Tales

  • It is said that there was once a queen named Veervati who was the sole sister among seven brothers. After her marriage, the queen traveled to her parent's residence to celebrate her first Karva Chauth. She stayed hungry the whole day, despite performing every rite required to keep the fast unbroken. When the queen's brothers saw how hungry their sister was, they fooled her into breaking her Karva Chauth fast. Her brothers placed a mirror in the Peepal Tree, which resembled the Moonrise. She broke her fast for her spouse as soon as she saw the Moon. As soon as she did so, she learned that her spouse had died.

  • While on her journey to her husband's residence, she encountered Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. They informed her what had transpired and pleaded for forgiveness in exchange. Accepting her repentance, they both instructed her to closely adhere to the fast, adding that her husband would be unwell for some time as punishment. Veervati regained custody of her husband. And, since that day, she has maintained fast every year, performing all of the necessary rites and puja.

Karva Chauth's Importance

  • Every state has its unique style of commemorating the joyous event of Karva Chauth. In most parts of Northern India, women fast for the whole day without eating anything. But first, they get up early in the morning before sunlight to eat Sargi.

  • Sargi consists mostly of meals made by mothers-in-law or other motherly figures in the home. It contains milk, dried fruits, and vermicelli (Sevaiyan). If you are fasting on Karva Chauth, make sure you have Sargi, as it is considered a necessary aspect of the holiday.

  • Women in Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and Punjab buy Karve to present water to the Moon at night and request his blessings for their husband's long-life health and happiness.

Things to Keep in Mind During Karva Chauth

  • Women have been fasting for centuries. However, if today is your first Karva Chauth of the year, keep the following in mind while fasting:
  • Remember to get up before sunrise on the festival day. Getting up late should not be an option on that particular day.
  • Before you begin your fast, take a bath and eat Sargi. When performing the Sargi ritual, make sure you obtain blessings and new garments from your mother-in-law.
  • Avoid wearing garments in black and brown, which are considered unlucky for such occasions. You can, however, wear your wedding gown or something red because red is the color of love and represents a strong relationship between wife and husband.
  • If you are fasting, you must remember not to sleep for the entire day. You must also remember not to disturb anyone who is sleeping. It would be a poor choice for the occasion.
  • Remember to avoid any form of squabbles or arguments in the home, especially with your husband. It will have an impact on the festival's favorability and may have a negative impact on your happy married life.
  • Don't forget to finish your fasting practices before breaking it. You must either listen to or repeat the Karva Chauth Katha. Additionally, make a good Puja Thali and only break the fast when you see the Moon.
  • Make sure to break your fast with water first, followed by a sweet. Having something else first may result in your fast being incomplete.
