2.1 Three processes of Vedic Education


Education was concentrated on the three processes of Sravana, Manana, and Niddhyaasana.

Sravana- Shravana is listening to the truths as they fall from the lips of the teacher. Knowledge is technically called Sruti or what the ear hears and not what is seen in writing.

Mañana- Manana means that the student must understand for himself the value of the lessons delivered verbally by his teacher in order to completely absorb them. Manana is reflecting the things we listened to (Shravana).

Nididhyasana- It means complete comprehension by the pupil of the truth that is taught so that he may live the truth and not merely explain it by word.

Gurukuls- From ancient times, the Gurukul schooling system existed, where students would live at the guru's home and learn anything that might be applied to tackle problems. Learning included not simply book reading but also relating them to life and nature.

2.2 Learning of Vedas


Vedas play an important role in the ancient education system, there are four Vedas. Rigveda contains 1028 hymns and contains 10,522 verses. Yajurveda comprises 1,984 verses and explains how to make life sacrifices. Samaveda is the study of music, it has 1,875 verses. There are 5,977 verses in the Atharvaveda, which is the discipline of sciences. Our history, how we must live, and what is good and bad are all taught in the Vedas.

2.3 Development of Personality


The old educational system's primary goal was to build a person's overall persona. Education was used to try to develop personal attributes such as conscience and self-confidence in learners. The conservation and expansion of culture, the formation of personality and character, and the promotion of noble concepts were all goals of ancient Indian education.

2.4 Perfect teaching Learning Atmosphere


The classes were held in either open spaces on the bank of a river or in a jungle in a quiet, calm and peaceful environment. They were known for having all the amenities such as hostels, classrooms, laboratories, and residential facilities.
2.6 Development of civic responsibility and social values

In Indian education, instilling civic qualities and social ideals was a similarly vital goal. After completing their education in the gurukuls, the learners returned to the community to serve people. Everyone had a responsibility to preserve the national culture and act as a transmission medium to spread knowledge.

Many difficulties and atrocities in Indian society have been linked by many changes such as urbanization, industrialization, commercialization, privatization, globalization, and the influx of foreign culture, all of which have resulted in a decline in ethical ideals in the Indian education system. It's the need of the hour to define the educational goal as well as the main cause of the Indian education system's poor social, moral, and spiritual state.
