Gita, a Sanskrit word that means "song" or "lesson," was written by Vyasa about 7,000 years ago. It was written on the auspicious day of Ekadashi on the battlefield of Kurukshetra for Arjun to help him prepare for the upcoming war against Emperor Kauravas and his cousins.
